Join us for an afternoon of stepping back in time:

Afternoon tea, music, and dancing- all reminiscent of the Regency era! Costume/afternoon tea wear encouraged!

This a unique and rare opportunity to experience the Regency era! Live music will be performed by Jon Mendle, and historical, regency-era dances will be taught by Jennifer Meller. You will even get to enjoy a classic, afternoon tea in the midst of the beautiful Museum.

Guitarist and lutenist Jon Mendle has toured with Yo-Yo Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble and made his Carnegie Hall debut while still a student at the age of 19. He began his guitar studies with Matthew Grasso, and completed his bachelor’s and master’s degrees, and Professional Studies Diploma at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. His first album L’Infidele, produced by Assad, was called “a beautiful disc” by Soundboard magazine, which added, “Mendle’s playing is a wonder. In 2021, Jon was awarded second prize in the Concorso di Musica Antica “Maurizio Pratola” international lute competition in L’Aquila, Italy.

Jennifer Meller is a musician and dancer, and enjoys exploring connections between the two disciplines. She works with early music ensembles in the Bay Area to create performances, reconstruct ancient operas, teach classes and organize workshops and events centered around 15th – 19th century European dance and music. She has taught master classes in historical dance at numerous schools and universities throughout California and works regularly in collaboration with the Educational Department of the Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra & Chorale and with the San Francisco Early Music Society. She is Professor of Baroque Dance at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and teaches Baroque Dance classes online to students around the world. Ms. Meller became Artistic Director of long-standing historical dance company Dance Through Time in 2019.
