Richard Rico Book Launch

Richard Rico, a native lifelong resident of Vacaville, began his weekly column, “At Ease!” in 1963 and for nearly 60 years chronicled the growth of his community as he reflected on its history and new directions, always with expressions of his unabashed love for this valley town. 

Richard is the retired publisher of the community’s daily newspaper, The Reporter, which was owned by his family for more than 70 years. He took over the publisher position – held for more than 35 of those years by his father, John, who joined the newspaper when he was a teenager. Richard grew up with the paper and thus became involved with virtually every aspect of publishing. 

The book, Follow my Lede, is a collection of columns selected from the more than 3,000 he wrote, until the column ended in 2022. 

Limited number of both soft and hardback books will be available to purchase exclusively at the Vacaville Museum, and all proceeds will benefit the Museum. 

Hardback books are $70 and softback books are $40. 

Books will go on sale at the museum on Saturday, July 22. Richard will be available to autograph books from 2:30 – 4:30 on this date.
